Metabotropic glutamate receptor 4-mediated glutamatfergic signaling reshapes the tumor microenvironment by regulating dendritic cell maturation
Summary
Metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (mGluR4) signaling in dendritic cells (DCs) significantly alters the tumor microenvironment. Activation of mGluR4, a glutamate receptor, modulates DC maturation, impacting their ability to stimulate T cells and present antigens. Specifically, mGluR4 activation can inhibit DC maturation, leading to reduced T cell activation and immune suppression within the tumor. This ultimately contributes to tumor growth and survival. Targeting mGluR4 in DCs could potentially reverse this immunosuppressive effect, promoting DC maturation and enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. This highlights the potential of mGluR4 modulation as a therapeutic strategy for cancer.
