Integrated multidimensional bioinformatics analysis of the molecular mechanisms of ulcerative colitis-associated colorectal cancer and MMP1 as a potential therapeutic target
Summary
Ulcerative colitis-associated colorectal cancer (UC-CRC) is a serious complication of ulcerative colitis. This study utilizes integrated bioinformatics analysis to uncover the molecular mechanisms driving UC-CRC development and identify potential therapeutic targets. By analyzing multiple datasets, including gene expression profiles and protein-protein interaction networks, researchers identified key genes and pathways significantly altered in UC-CRC. Specifically, matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1) emerged as a promising therapeutic target due to its involvement in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. The study suggests that targeting MMP1 could offer a potential strategy for preventing or treating UC-CRC.
