Postdoctoral fellowship in the area of crystal plasticity finite element modeling
Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoc fellowship in the area of crystal plasticity finite element modeling of polycrystals. This position is a full-time position at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and the selected applicant can start from September 2025. In addition, this position is extendable for another year, depending on the availability of funds and the applicant’s performance.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use in-situ experimental techniques, e.g., diffraction or imaging, to characterize the mechanical properties of advanced metal alloys. The selected applicant will also have access to the state-of-the-art facilities for conducting in-situ experimentation, located at the Multiscale Deformation Lab.
Applicants will be assessed based on how they meet the following criteria:
· Strong track record of publications in the area of crystal plasticity finite element modeling.
· Strong track record in finite element analysis.
· Excellent computer programming skills.
· Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
The following qualities are desirable:
· A good understanding of deformation and fracture of polycrystals.
· Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
· Ability to conduct in-situ experiments e.g., in SEM or at synchrotron X-ray or neutron facilities.
· Ability to program in MATLAB (or other programming languages)
Application procedure:
