The applicant is expected to be highly independent and be capable of designing experiments and conducting hypothesis-based research projects. The candidate should have a strong background in cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry. Daily recording in a lab notebook will be required. Knowledge of fluorescence microscopy is favorable, although not necessary. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will adhere to current Indiana School of Medicine guidelines.

We are looking for a motivated and creative post-doctoral fellow to join our group at the Indiana School of Medicine. Our NIH funded lab studies pathophysiology of the inner ear using multiple genetic mouse models and a novel human stem cell-derived 3D inner ear organoid model. We study genetically-mediated hair cell and neuronal degeneration in these model system to determine cellular networks that lead to cell death and to establish molecules that can prevent degeneration.

Experimental approaches being used in the lab include inner ear drug delivery, CRISPR/Cas9, single cell RNA-seq, cell culture with live cell imaging, immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, coimmunoprecipitation and proteomics.

The Dage Lab at the Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our innovative research team. Our lab focuses on developing precision medicine approaches for diagnosing neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, through the discovery of blood-based biomarkers.

This position is funded by the Alzheimer’s Disease and Aging Cohort Consortium (ADACC) U24 grant (Wake Forest PI: Dr. Michelle Mielke, IU mPI: Dr. Nicole Fowler) and will involve cutting-edge research in Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The primary goal of this research project is to establish a national consortium, the Alzheimer’s Diagnosis in Older Adults with Chronic Conditions (ADACC) Network. This consortium will consist of multidisciplinary investigators dedicated to developing evidence-based strategies for the use and implementation of biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) in older patients with multiple chronic conditions and cognitive impairment.

This clinical research-focused position involves working with clinical, imaging, biomarker, and genetics data across multiple studies. Expertise in biostatistics and familiarity with handling multiple data types, both cross-sectionally and longitudinally, are critical for success.

Drs. Meichen Yu and Andrew Saykin from the Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (IADRC) at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), have immediate full-time openings for one or more outstanding, highly motivated post-doctoral research fellows with special interest in human connectomics in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The Lab’s overarching goals are 1) to achieve a better understanding of the brain network and neurophysiological mechanisms leading to AD, 2) to improve early detection and longitudinal monitoring by combining neuroimaging (i.e., MRI, PET and MEG) and fluid (i.e., CSF and plasma) biomarkers and 3) to analyze genomic data to identify novel targets for diagnostic use and therapeutic intervention.
Fellows will work on research problems using rich data sets and leading-edge analytic approaches supported by multiple NIH grants (R, U and P programs). Fellows will take the lead in preparing manuscripts for publication and contribute to major grant applications while collaborating on other projects as part of a multidisciplinary team science effort. Fellows are also encouraged to write fellowship or other early career appropriate grant applications commensurate with their level of professional development. The experimental approaches we are currently using include: CRISPR genome editing, CUT&RUN/ChIP, scRNA-seq/scATAC-seq, 3D imaging/expansion microscopy, proteomics, hydrogel fabrication/characterization, bioprinting and mathematical modeling.

We create statistical, machine learning, and deep learning approaches for the processing of this data, with a major focus on single cell, spatial transcriptomics of solid tumors. This has a variety of data, including cosmic, stereoseq, nanostring, 10X Visium, xenium and 10x single cell data. The ultimate goal is to find new treatment targets and learn more about the genetic abnormalities that underlie cancer.

A postdoctoral position is available in the Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Global Health at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The Schmidt laboratory works to define the factors that impact the pathogenesis of malaria and identify novel approaches to prevent children from dying from malaria. One of the observations made by Dr. Schmidt’s research program was that the composition of bacteria residing within the intestinal tract can profoundly impact the severity of malaria. A postdoctoral fellow is needed to study the influence of gut microbiota on malaria. Candidates must have a PhD degree with a strong research background in immunology, gut microbiome, or microbiology. Experience conducting research on malaria immunology, host-pathogen interactions, gut microbiota, or bacteriology will be prioritized. Work will include, but not be limited to: general immunology laboratory techniques to prepare mouse and human samples for flow cytometry, mouse handling, manipulation of the murine gut microbiota, microbiology, data analysis and interpretation, microbiota bioinformatic analyses, working collaboratively with local, national, and in international research teams to conduct research studies on malaria and gut microbiota, preparing manuscripts, assisting in grant writing, preparing independent grant proposals for internal and external awards, and supervising members of the laboratory.
