Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Post-doct on the detection of organic radicals in the atmosphere
We are seeking a highly-motivated candidate for a postdoctoral position on the detection of organic radicals (in particular organic peroxy, RO2) in Earth’s atmosphere using real-time Proton Transfer Mass Spectrometry (Ptr-MS), as part of the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced project EPHEMERAL. Organic radicals are key reaction intermediates in many chemical systems, such as living organism, combustion and natural environments. In particular, they play key roles in the self-cleaning capacity of Earth’s Atmosphere. But they have never been detected individually. Detecting these radicals in the atmosphere is the ambitious objective of project EPHEMERAL. The position therefore involves handling, characterizing, and troubleshooting a state-of-the-art Time-of-flight proton transfer mass spectrometer (PTr-MS,) and using it both in laboratory and in outdoor campaigns. This position will be in the group of Prof. Nozière at the Department of Chemistry of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
Deadline : 31.Aug.2025

Postdoc summary/title: Post-doc on the reactions of organic radical in Earth’s atmosphere
We are seeking a highly-motivated candidate for a postdoctoral position to study the reactivity of organic radicals (in particular organic peroxy, RO2) in Earth’s atmosphere using real-time proton transfer ionization mass spectrometry, as part of the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced project EPHEMERAL. Organic radicals are key reaction intermediates in many chemical systems, such as living organism, combustion and natural environments. In particular, they play key roles in the self-cleaning capacity of Earth’s Atmosphere. But some of their reactions remain to be studied, which is the objective of this position. The position will thus involve using gas flow systems and proton transfer ionization mass spectrometers in the laboratory and potentially taking part in outdoor measurements of these radicals. This position will be in the group of Prof. Nozière at the Department of Chemistry of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in wireless MIMO communications for 6G
Wireless communication technology has evolved over five generations, but the demand for higher efficiency, availability, and reliability is never-ending. The physical layer of 5G and 6G networks revolves around the multi-antenna MIMO technology. 5G uses 64 antennas in each base station and 4 antennas in devices, which might grow by 5-10 times in 6G. These antennas can be used for beamforming, spatial multiplexing, and integrated communication and sensing (ISAC).
In this postdoc project, you will contribute to cutting-edge research on 6G MIMO technology and develop new communication theory, concepts, and algorithms. The focus might be on Gigantic MIMO, cell-free networks, near-field communications, or ISAC for mid-band or higher frequencies. We believe a successful postdoc period builds on your current skills but expands them by targeting new research challenges and using new methods.
The research will be focused on the physical and media access control layers. Methods from MIMO communication theory, array signal processing, optimization, and machine learning will likely play a vital role. The research will mainly be theoretical, but KTH has testbeds for potential experiments. However, we are not looking for microwave engineers because no antennas or hardware will be built.
In this project, you will join the world-leading research group of Prof. Emil Björnson (IEEE Fellow, Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher) and work at the Division of Communication Systems at the EECS school. The research is funded by external projects, so there will be good opportunities to interact with the telecom industry.

(07) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in characterization of strain-rate sensitivity of metals
At the Hultgren Laboratory at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate materials behavior at micrometer length scales during deformation at high velocities. High strain rate deformation is fundamental to processes such as hard-particle erosion, materials processing and manufacturing, and in this project we aim to establish an experimental and computational platform for the improvement of high-strain-rate material models for metallic materials across a wide range of strain rates and temperatures.
Experimental and modelling strategies will be defined in dialogue with developers of materials models, end-users that apply such models for process and materials development, and providers of wear-resistant and other high-performance metallic materials. The postdoctoral project will focus on the establishment of the experimental test methodology Laser-induced particle impact testing (LIPIT) at the Hultgren Laboratory for testing of high strain-rate behavior of metallic materials. The LIPIT micromechanical tests will be complemented with more standard micro- and micromechanical testing as well as microstructure characterization of deformation structures, etc. The novel experimental insights on strain-rate sensitivity, also at extreme rates, will feed model improvements in collaboration with partners in the project. Finite element modelling (FEM) will be used for the mechanics modelling, and physics-informed machine learning (AI) will be explored for developing a materials library for strain-rate sensitivity that can be incorporated in FEM.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in alloy design and materials modelling in AM
At the Department of Materials Science and Engineering we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our research team in material modelling and alloy development for powder and wire based additive manufacturing (AM). Despite its already explored vast potential, the applicability of AM might be still limited since the material flow from feedstock production to manufacturing and recycling is still limited, which harms the resource effectiveness of AM. This is due to the lack of sustainable metals for AM, inefficient production of powder and wire materials, and lack of recycling and re-use/reshape/repurpose approaches. The EU-funded REPAM project aims to tackle these issues by focusing on different methods to reduce the amount of material and energy required to produce metal feedstocks for additive manufacturing, from both experimental and multi-scale materials modelling from feedstock processing to the manufacturing. It also addresses novel manufacturing techniques to obtain improved performance, such as mechanical properties, using the developed feedstocks.
As a part of this project, new resource-efficient alloys will be developed, considering the current challenges in feedstock production and additive manufacturing, e.g., solidification cracking, and their performance during feedstock production, additive manufacturing and service, e.g., static and dynamic mechanical behavior, will be evaluated through computational modelling (including CALPHAD, Phase field/Cellular Automata, FEM) and experiments. The current position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing materials science in AM by exploring innovative alloys and enhancing process-material relationships through advanced computational and experimental approaches and contributing to the EU-funded project with a vast diverse consortium of universities, institutes, and industries.

(09) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc transmission electron microscopy for sustainable metals
At the Hultgren Laboratory at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering we are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with research interest in microstructural characterization of sustainable metallic materials using transmission electron microscopy and supplementary tools.
Through the generous grant of Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability – WISE (https://wise-materials.org) and KTH we are now establishing a state-of-the-art high-throughput scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) with unique in-situ/-operando capability at the Hultgren Laboratory. The equipment adds unique capability in the Swedish infrastructure for transmission electron microscopy ‒ ARTEMI (https://artemi.se/) with an integrated laser heating system which enables high-temperature studies as well as in-situ thermo-mechanical processing studies with the help of an in-situ straining holder. It will also be possible to combine other types of in-situ holders, e.g. reaction chambers, in combination with the laser heating. Furthermore, the system will be equipped with Automated Crystallographic Orientation mapping (ACOM), providing unique high-throughput, high resolution localized crystallographic and strain analysis.
The postdoctoral researcher will join our research team in materials characterization to perform research towards enhanced materials sustainability. By providing improved fundamental understanding of metallic materials’ structure-property correlations by advanced characterization we support development of novel metallic materials and their processes. For example, we work on improving metallic materials used in the electrification of the automotive industry, hydrogen-tolerant metallic materials that are required for the transition to a fossil-free energy system with hydrogen as an important energy carrier, and the design of metallic materials that are better suited for production from recycled materials while maintaining high performance. So-called in-situ/in-operando and high-throughput measurements are important in this project and the postdoc will work on both method development as well as materials science applications, i.e. better understanding of the microstructure and mechanical properties of specific metallic materials.
