Eligible candidate may Apply as soon as possible.
(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellows in Digital and Electrochemical Engineering
Applications are invited for up to two Research Fellows to join the Surrey Circular Economy group. The positions will be based within the school of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and will contribute to the digital tool development within two EPSRC funded projects:
- IDEA: Inverse Design of Electrochemical Interfaces with Explainable AI (grant number EP/W03722X/1) and,
- (ii) C-Circ: Accelerating the Translation of CO2 Electrolysers.
The post will be based within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (SCCE), post holders will have the opportunity to interact with the extended groups within the Surrey Circular Economy research teams as well as partners from collaborating Universities and industry. At Surrey, we adopt an integrated approach that combines experimental studies, multi-physics and data-driven modelling, explainable AI, and techno-economic analysis to advance the application of digital technologies. This approach supports the transformation of the chemical sector, the third-largest industrial direct emitter of CO2, towards improved environmental sustainability.
Deadline : 24 November 2025
(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc summary/title: Research Fellow in Biological Physics
We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the University of Surrey and work in Dr Isabella Guido’s research group for a 2.5-year project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
The project aims to investigate how physical forces and collective dynamics lead to deformation and shape changes of biological systems by using biomimetic networks of reconstituted microtubules and motor proteins. These active networks will be designed to mimic the dynamic behaviour of the cellular cytoskeleton and provide a unique model system to explore how active stresses generated by microtubules and motor proteins at the nanoscale scale up and are collectively transmitted to the mesoscale. By encapsulating the active networks in a cell-like compartments, this system will enable us to investigate the mechanical principles underlying symmetry breaking and morphological changes in cells.
The interdisciplinary project involves experimental work spanning active matter physics, membrane biophysics, and microfluidics. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Isabella Guido and academic collaborators from Paris-Saclay University, and Kyoto University. The candidate will develop and apply experimental and imaging techniques to characterise the pattern formation and mechanical deformation of the reconstituted active networks within confined, cell-like environments.
Deadline : 16 November 2025

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: CARES-Well Research Fellow
We are seeking an experienced Research Fellow to work on a partnership project with NHS and healthcare organisations to systemically improve the wellbeing of healthcare staff so that they can thrive.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the smooth running of this National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research project that aims to improve the wellbeing of the UK healthcare workforce. One of the key aims of the partnership is to ensure inclusion of ‘seldom heard’ groups, who are likely to include staff from racially minoritised groups, internationally recruited, disabled and non-clinical staff.
The NHS workforce crisis is driven by complex, interconnected factors. To address key knowledge gaps, we are using a mixed-methods realist approach to identify, implement, and evaluate systems-level promising ‘bundles’ of interventions. We will use co-design methods to agree priorities and interventions in partnership with NHS staff.
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with mixed methods research skills and ideally realist methodology experience and excellent project management and organisational skills. They will be responsible for primary and secondary data collection and ensuring the smooth running of this large-scale workforce research partnership project, with strong supervision and support from an experienced wider research team.
Deadline : 10 November 2025
(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow A in Discrete Element Modelling of Tablet Disintegration
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the mechanistic modelling of pharmaceutical tablet disintegration. This UKRI/EPSRC-funded project offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic research team collaborating with a consortium of academic and industry partners.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing mechanistic models, primarily using the Discrete Element Method (DEM), to analyse and predict pharmaceutical tablet disintegration. The goal is to construct robust, physics-based simulations that deepen the understanding of the underlying processes and ultimately create predictive tools for optimisation and control.
Deadline : 04 November 2025
(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Qualitative Methods
We are looking to recruit an experienced qualitative post-doctoral researcher with an interest in ethnic inequalities in mental health. The researcher will join a friendly team of quantitative and qualitative researchers on an NIHR funded project to explore inequalities in antidepressant prescribing in primary care for the South Asian diaspora. Duties will include participant recruitment, data collection, keeping meticulous records of participant retention, working with our PPI and governance representatives, data analysis, writing for publication and event planning. The role will include recruiting from diverse communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with community stakeholders, patients, and primary care professionals to embed change into care practices for those living with depression.

About The University of Surrey, England – Official Website
The University of Surrey is a public research university in Guildford, England. The university received its royal charter in 1966, along with a number of other institutions following recommendations in the Robbins Report. The institution was previously known as Battersea College of Technology and was located in Battersea Park, London. Its roots however, go back to Battersea Polytechnic Institute, founded in 1891 to provide further and higher education in London, including its poorer inhabitants. The university’s research output and global partnerships have led to it being regarded as one of the UK’s leading research universities.
The university is a member of the Association of MBAs and is one of four universities in the University Global Partnership Network. It is also part of the SETsquared partnership along with the University of Bath, the University of Bristol, the University of Southampton and the University of Exeter. The university’s main campus is on Stag Hill, close to the centre of Guildford and adjacent to Guildford Cathedral. Surrey Sports Park is situated at the nearby Manor Park, the university’s secondary campus. Among British universities, the University of Surrey had the 14th highest average UCAS Tariff for new entrants in 2015.
A major centre for satellite and mobile communications research, the university is in partnership with King’s College London and the University of Dresden to develop 5G technology worldwide. It also holds a number of formal links with institutions worldwide, including the Surrey International Institute, launched in partnership with the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. The university owns the Surrey Research Park, providing facilities for over 110 companies engaged in research. Surrey has been awarded three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for its research, with the 2014 Research Excellence Framework ranking 78% of the university’s research outputs as “world leading” or “internationally excellent”. It was named as The Sunday Times University of the Year in 2016.
