Introduction to the laboratory and co-mentor: The National Key Laboratory of Interface Science and Technology for Advanced Equipment at Tsinghua University is one of the first 20 benchmark national key laboratories. It is supported by Tsinghua University and supervised by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is a high-end scientific research platform for tribology theory and technology, surface interface science and performance control, biotribology and biomechanics, micro-nano manufacturing theory and technology, and micro-nano optoelectronic testing theory and technology. Luo Jianbin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a tribology expert. Academician Luo Jianbin is currently the dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University and the honorary dean of the Tianjin Institute of Advanced Equipment at Tsinghua University. He is also an executive member of the International Tribology Council and an executive member of the Global Engineering Deans’ Committee (GEDC). He has served as the chairman of the Tribology Technical Committee of the International Federation of Mechanisms and Machine Sciences (IFToMM), the director of the Tribology Branch of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering, the chief of two 973 projects, and the person in charge of the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s major instrument special projects, major projects and innovation group projects. He has served as the editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief or editorial board member of 9 domestic and foreign academic journals. Academician Luo Jianbin has been engaged in nanotribology research and nanomanufacturing research for a long time. He has won 1 National Technological Invention Third Prize, 2 National Natural Science Second Prizes, 1 National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize, and 12 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. He was the first Chinese to win the 2013 American Society of Lubrication Engineers (STLE) International Award, the highest award, and the China Tribology Highest Achievement Award. He has published 1 English monograph as the first author, participated in the editing of 1 English monograph, and translated 1 English monograph. He has published more than 500 papers, of which more than 300 are included in SCI. He has been granted more than 90 invention patents. He has made more than 30 conference reports (Plenary and Keynote) at international conferences. Liu Yuhong is a tenured professor/doctoral supervisor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University. He serves as an editorial board member of Mechanical Engineering and Technology and editor of the Special Issue of Journal of Functional Biomaterials. He has presided over national scientific research projects and topics such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China Excellent Young Scholars, the General Program, and the National Key Basic Research Development Program (973) of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has participated in major and key scientific research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and major basic research projects of the Military Science and Technology Commission’s Basic Strengthening Program. He has been conducting basic theoretical and technological innovation research on interfacial friction behavior and superlubrication in micro-nano manufacturing for a long time. In the past five years, he has published 65 SCI papers in mainstream magazines such as Nano Today, ACS NANO, and Chemical Engineering Journal as the first or corresponding author, and has been cited 687 times. He has been featured on many international and domestic academic websites such as x-mol, Yanzhichengli, and Nanoman. He won the first prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the second prize of Beijing Natural Science Award, the special prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology, the second prize of the Invention and Innovation Award of the China Invention Association, the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Award and other achievement awards, and was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Outstanding Youth Project. The academic paper won the High Impact Paper Award of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering and the Top Academic Paper of China’s Fine Science and Technology Journal. |
