      Talent Recruitment Announcement of the College of Informatics, Huazhong Agricultural University

      I. Introduction

      The College of Informatics at Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) comprises seven departments: Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics and Statistics, among others. It hosts a number of key research and teaching platforms, including the Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Intelligent Technology (Ministry of Education), the Key Laboratory of Smart Breeding Technology (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), the Hubei Key Laboratory of Agricultural Bioinformatics, the Hubei Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Big Data, and the Hubei Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Information Technology.

      Adhering to a development path of “integrating into the industrial system and participating in the global circulation,” the College is committed to strengthening interdisciplinary characteristics, elevating overall standards, and creating specific areas of advantage. The College continuously enhances its core competitiveness and educational quality, striving to become a significant innovation base for bioinformatics and agricultural information technology, as well as a high-quality, research-oriented talent cultivation base for agricultural AI and information technology. To facilitate HZAU’s goal of becoming a world-renowned research center with significant influence in the fields of agricultural artificial intelligence and intelligent science & technology, we now invite outstanding high-level leading talents from both within China and abroad to join us.

      II. Positions and Requirements

      Position 1: Scientist in Intelligent Biobreeding Algorithm

      Responsibilities: Lead the formation and direction of an interdisciplinary team to integrate AI, quantitative genetics, and large-scale omics data, etc. Develop next-generation breeding algorithms and decision-making engines for crops, livestock, poultry, and aquaculture applications. Create original AI models (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning, probabilistic graphical models) for applications in genomic prediction, GWAS, GS, gene-editing target discovery, and multi-trait selection. Conduct cutting-edge research in agricultural intelligent biobreeding. Participate in organizing, planning, implementing, and translating major projects related to agricultural intelligent biobreeding. Organize and coordinate domestic and international exchange and cooperation concerning major scientific and technological infrastructure in this field.

      Requirements: A leading talent in the field with a doctoral degree in Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines. Long-term research experience in agricultural intelligent biobreeding algorithms, with internationally recognized innovative thinking and research track record, and representative achievements of significant original value. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated results in developing and applying large-scale biobreeding algorithms.

      Position 2: Scientist in Agricultural Robotics

      Responsibilities: Focusing on “Agricultural Robotics and Intelligent Equipment,” form and lead an interdisciplinary team to develop integrated autonomous perception-decision-execution robotic systems for farm, facility, orchard, livestock/poultry, and aquaculture scenarios, aiming for accelerated breeding, precision production, and sustainable agriculture. Develop robot main bodies, actuation and control algorithms, overcoming challenges in autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, multi-agent coordination, and task planning in complex farm/husbandry environments. Integrate multimodal sensors (vision, LiDAR, mmWave, spectral, tactile, gas, etc.) for online identification and precision operations of crop/animal phenotypes, pests/diseases, nutrient/health status applications. Build robot-cloud collaborative platforms supporting real-time data compression and edge AI model updates. Lead national, international, and industry collaborative projects. Participate deeply in the development of smart farms and intelligent livestock/poultry husbandry demonstration sites.

      Requirements: Doctoral degree in Computer Science, AI, Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. Solid background in robotics algorithms: SLAM, motion planning, reinforcement learning, multimodal fusion, distributed control, embedded systems. Experience in robotics R&D for agricultural or outdoor unstructured environments. Interdisciplinary experience in areas like soft actuators, agricultural AI chips, or robot OS security is advantageous.

      Position 3: Scientist in Agricultural Large Model

      Responsibilities: Focusing on “Agricultural Large Models and Generative AI,” form and lead an interdisciplinary team to develop exclusive agricultural large models with billions to hundreds of billions of parameters for full-chain scenarios including breeding, cultivation, husbandry, agricultural machinery, agricultural economics, and supply chain, aiming for scientific discovery, intelligent decision-making, and industrial translation. Build agricultural multimodal large models integrating text, sequences, images, spatio-temporal data, sensor data, knowledge graphs, and policy data, tackling challenges of data heterogeneity, scarce labels, and long-tail distributions. Develop generative AI toolchains: for gene/protein design, phenotype simulation, automated cultivation plan generation, pest/disease Q&A, market forecast, policy impact analysis. Create an open platform for agricultural large models: supporting plugin invocation, LoRA/QLoRA fine-tuning, federated/edge inference, trustworthy traceability, and privacy-preserving computation. Lead national, international, and industry collaborative projects. Participate deeply in the development of large-model computing centers and agricultural AI+ technology innovation centers.

      Requirements: Doctoral degree in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering, or related fields. Solid background in large model algorithms, with experience in areas like multimodal alignment and efficient parallel training. Experience processing large-scale agricultural or biological data (genomic, transcriptomic, phenomic, remote sensing, text, market data). Preference will be given to candidates who have led or made core contributions to the training and release of general/domain-specific large models with ≥10 billion parameters and have experience in industrial deployment of large models.

      III. Supports and Benefits

      (1) High-Starting-Point Appointment with Academic Autonomy

      Leading talents will be directly appointed to the tenured position of Shishan Chair Professor or Research Fellow. Support will be provided to work as an independent PI or join outstanding disciplinary innovation teams. Priority research funding of 10 million RMB or more will be allocated. Quotas for postdoctoral and PhD student recruitment will be ensured, facilitating a smooth and high-quality start for research.

      (2) Competitive Remuneration with Comprehensive Support

      Salary will be negotiated individually, starting from an annual package of 2 million RMB with no upper limit. HZAU provides on-campus housing, comprehensive healthcare, children’s education, relocation assistance, and other benefits to ensure a comfortable living environment.

      (3) High-Standard Research Platforms Empowering Innovative Research

      Talents will have access to National Key Laboratories, Hubei Provincial Key Laboratories, high-level talent cultivation bases, and technological innovation platforms. These resources provide first-class experimental conditions, interdisciplinary collaboration networks, and convenient channels to translate scientific and technological achievements into industrial or commercial outcomes.

      (4) Support for Site Visits with Special Subsidy Provided

      In collaboration with the Wuhan Optics Valley Talent Group, HZAU cordially invites overseas talents and their families to visit the campus for an on-site evaluation. A subsidy of up to 360,000 RMB will be provided for the visit to Hubei and HZAU.
