Integrative multi-omics reveals a regulatory and exhausted T-cell landscape in CLL and identifies galectin-9 as an immunotherapy target
Summary
This study used a comprehensive “multi-omics” approach (combining genomics, proteomics, etc.) to understand the T-cell environment in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). They discovered a unique profile of exhausted and dysregulated T-cells within CLL patients. Importantly, the research identified Galectin-9 as a key molecule involved in this T-cell exhaustion. This finding suggests that targeting Galectin-9 could be a promising immunotherapy strategy to reinvigorate T-cell function and improve treatment outcomes in CLL. The study provides a detailed molecular map of T-cell dysfunction in CLL, paving the way for more targeted and effective immunotherapies.
