MARCO expression on myeloid-derived suppressor cells is essential for their differentiation and immunosuppression
Summary
Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) require MARCO expression to properly differentiate and exert their immunosuppressive functions. MARCO, a scavenger receptor, plays a crucial role in MDSC development and activity. Without adequate MARCO expression, MDSCs fail to fully mature and their ability to suppress the immune system is significantly compromised. This highlights MARCO as a critical regulator in controlling MDSC-mediated immunosuppression, potentially offering a therapeutic target for modulating immune responses in conditions like cancer and chronic inflammation.
