Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is an analytical tool intended for assessing the quality of the journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection databases.
The 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) mark the 50th anniversary of this essential resource for evaluating scholarly journal impact and trustworthiness. Key highlights from the 2025 release include:

Coverage of 22,249 journals across 254 subject categories.

Over 6,200 journals published via gold open access models.

Journals from 111 countries receive a Journal Impact Factor (JIF), including:

14,591 in the sciences

7,559 in the social sciences

3,368 in the arts and humanities.

618 journals receive a JIF for the first time.

Enhanced focus on research integrity: citations to and from retracted articles are now excluded from the JIF numerator, though retracted articles remain in the denominator, impacting about 1% of indexed journals.
