[Team leader]

Prof. Kay Chen TAN (Professor Chen Jiajin) is currently a chair professor and deputy head of the Computing Intelligence Department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an IEEE Fellow, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Program speaker, and an honorary professor at the University of Nottingham.

The main research fields are artificial intelligence, computational intelligence, evolutionary computing, machine learning, medical AI, and others.

Professor Chen has published 8 monographs and more than 300 peer-reviewed journal papers, with 19,731 Google Scholar citations. He serves as the vice president of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and is currently the Springer Book Series on Machine Learning: Foundations, Methodologies, and Applications co-editor. He has served as editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine. He has served as the chairman of the organizing committee/co-chairman of more than 50 international conferences. He has been invited to participate in more than 80 international conferences as a Plenary/Keynote speaker.

Dr. Huang Zhian

is currently a young researcher at the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), in charge of the team’s AI for Healthcare direction. He received his PhD from the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong in 2021. His main research directions include computer-aided diagnosis, deep learning and medical image analysis, biological big data analysis and data mining, presided over a youth project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory Project in Guangdong Province. In recent years, related research work has been published in the top international journals and conferences in the field of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics, and 28 academic papers have been published, including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, Briefings in Bioinformatics, PLoS Computational Biology, etc., and served as a reviewer for several well-known journals and conferences.

[Main research direction of the team]

1. Computation-aided diagnosis: graph neural network, transfer learning, semi-supervised learning, multimodal fusion, Federated learning, interpretable machine learning, etc.

2. Medical image analysis: including but not limited to MRI, EEG, CT, fNIRS and other data analysis applications

3. Biological big data analysis and data mining: involving genomics, immunomics, transcriptome Integrated analysis and mining development of multi-omics data such as biomedicine and microbiomics, as well as research on methods and clinical applications of imaging genomics
