Mentor introduction:
Dr. Tang Xin joined the Southern University of Science and Technology in 2022 as an assistant professor and doctoral supervisor in the Complex Flow and Soft Matter Research Center (chaired by Academician Xia Keqing) and the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Xin Tang received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Hong Kong in 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he was engaged in post-doctoral research at the University of Hong Kong and was funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme. The main research fields are surface and interface phenomena and technology, soft matter science, micro-nano technology, etc. Discovered and deciphered the fork-like droplet flow on the surface of piezoelectric single crystal (Nat. Nanotechnol. 2021, 16, 1106-1112), and designed a micro-scale droplet non-destructive control system: dynamic binary liquid gripper and photo-induced pyroelectric micro Fluidics (Nat. Commun. 2017, 8, 14831; Sci. Adv. 2020, 6, 1693), co-explore the strategy of thin-coated mucus film to enhance the collisional attachment of droplets on non-wetting surfaces (Nat. Commun. 2021, 12, 3154). He has published more than 20 articles, of which the crystal plane forked droplet flow was selected for the cover of Nature Nanotechnology, and the related research review was selected for the cover of Materials Today and obtained two US patents. He has successively won the Li Ka Shing Award of the University of Hong Kong, the Norman WM Ko Outstanding Doctoral Award, and the Gold Award of the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions.
