Eligibility Standards for European Research Council Starting Grants

Regarding ERC Starting Grant eligibility, the applicants need to be eligible by meeting the standards set by the administration. Let’s find them below:

  • All nationalities are welcome to apply.
  • The grant is available to all fields of study available to be taught at the university.
  • The applicant needs to possess 2 to 7 years of experience post Ph.D. (since the completion of Ph.D.).
  • The applicant needs to present a project that is conducted in a private or public research organization. This might be where the candidate (applicant) already works, or any other host organization situated anywhere in EU member states or Associated Countries.
  • Researchers (from any part of the world) may lodge their applications for ERC grants (ERC Advanced Grant) provided that the research area they choose would be carried out in an EU Member State or Associated Country.

Financial Benefits

The successful candidates will be provided with an award amounting $4,000,000 (up to) by the University of Melbourne. The Staring Grants could be conferred up to €1.5 million for the duration of 5 years (pro-rata for projects of the shorter period).

Therefore, an extra €1 million could be provided for the coverage of eligible start-up costs for researchers who move from a third world to the European Union or any associated country and/or the buying of major equipment and/or access to whopping facilities and/or other major experimental and field work expenditures.
