CSU Health Network 
The Colorado State University Health Network is an integrated mental health and medical service serving both undergraduate and graduate students within a large land-grant university. It is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) for the doctoral internship in Counseling & Clinical Psychology and by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The training of clinically-competent, ethical, self-aware, and culturally sensitive psychologists is central to our mission. 

Presenting issues range from the expected developmental concerns of college students to severe mental health diagnoses, including psychoses and personality disorders. The most common presenting concerns are: stress & anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, eating disorders, sexual concerns, substance abuse, and identity development. General Services includes individual and couple psychotherapy, a vibrant group therapy program, and crisis intervention services. Specialty programs include the DAY Programs (substance abuse & other addictions), Primary Care Behavioral Health, and the iTEAM (DBT informed post-hospitalization program providing integrated care to clients experiencing an acute mental health crisis). Position Summary 

The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship at the CSU Health Network is designed to prepare individuals for a staff psychologist position in a university counseling service, with particular emphasis on psychologists wishing to specialize in issues related to alcohol and other drug use. The primary focus of this fellowship track is on obtaining specialized training working with both mandated and voluntary students as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The Fellow’s clinical hours will be divided between facilitation of psycho-educational workshops, national best practice programs such as BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students), individual therapy with a focus on Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction groups, and participation in the Open to Change (OTC) multidisciplinary treatment team. OTC is an innovative program, designed for working with students who are in need of substance use treatment and includes two tracks. Track A is a shorter amount of time and less intensive. Track B includes multiple phases and an aftercare component. The Fellow will have the unique opportunity to participate in all aspects of this multidisciplinary program, which uses a combination of sanctions and incentives to encourage positive change, while providing individualized treatment, psycho-education, and compliance monitoring. Approximately 75-85% of students in the DAY Program are typically mandated through the university conduct system; however, the Fellow will also work with a growing voluntary population of students whose goals are abstinence or decreased use. 

The secondary focus of the Fellowship includes obtaining specialized training in the area of primary care behavioral health in the medical center of our integrated health unit. Additionally, the Fellow may participate in crisis intervention and university-based outreach and prevention services including advocacy and social justice interventions. The Postdoctoral Fellow is involved in advanced clinical training experiences through both supervision and participation in didactic seminars. Fellows may have the opportunity to co-facilitate a seminar for less advanced trainees. Seminar participation is negotiated with each Fellow individually, based on experience and training needs. 

Required Job Qualifications 

Education 

Anticipated completion of all requirements for graduation (coursework, comprehensive exams, internship, dissertation) from an APA-Accredited program in Counseling or Clinical Psychology by August 23, 2021 (i.e., by the first day of CSU fall classes). This is defined as having a letter verifying anticipated completion of all degree requirements from the Department Chair, Training Director, or other administrative official in the applicant’s APA-accredited academic program. Applicants from programs with a current status of “Accredited, on contingency” also are eligible to apply. 

Training 

Applicant must be available to begin full-time employment on Monday, August 2, 2021 to complete an intensive 3-week orientation and training (the Fellow training year will officially run from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022). 
Completion of APA-accredited doctoral internship by August 23, 2021. Applicants from programs with a current status of “Accredited, on contingency” are eligible to apply. Applicants who will finish their internship after August 2nd must negotiate leave time with their internship training director in order to be able to attend our three week orientation and training period, from August 2-20, 2021. 

Preferred Job Qualifications 

Experience 

Clinical experience in a University Counseling Center or similar setting. 
Experience working on a multidisciplinary team. 
Clinical experience incorporating the Stages of Change. 
Clinical experience utilizing Brief Motivational Interviewing. 
Clinical experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
