Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.


Additional Department Summary: Postdoctoral positions are available at The University of Alabama to individuals with research interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.

The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.


Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD required in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology or relevant discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with previous research experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Applications must have a passion for science and competence with scientific research, manuscript preparation and disseminating research results. Responsibilities will include mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research projects.


Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with developed scientific writing skills.
