A postdoc position is available at Synthetic and Systems Biology Innovation Hub and Dr. Joshua Yuan’s lab in Texas A&M University. The candidate will work on systems and synthetic biology, in particular, pertaining to plant biology applications. He or she will carry out proteomics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics analysis to derive regulatory networks and further investigate essential gene functions. He or she may also work on key enzymes regulating lignin polymerization or designing novel pathways to efficiently utilize photosynthetic carbon for high-value product manufacturing in planta. The scientist will have enormous opportunities to collaborate with researchers across the campus using the ‘omics’ platforms under the direction of the Director for Synthetic and Systems Biology Innovation Hub. The position will also work on the implementation of the seed projects in proteomics through collaboration, and will play a role in management. The position involves following functions, tailored based on the candidate’s experience.Advance mechanistic understanding of biological systems using cutting-edge systems biology platform including proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, and meta-dataset.Design new pathways, chemicals, organelles to achieve functions that cannot previously accomplished in planta. Examples include hyper production of certain high value compounds and new cell wall structure for carbon and functional materials.Collaborate on seed projects using systems biology platforms, and maintain the instruments at Synthetic and Systems Biology Innovation Hub.Supervise staff that are participating in the project carrying out ‘omics’ analysis using mass spectrometry and bioinformatics tools.Prepare written reports for publication and grant submission and present results at national meetings regarding new tools and findings.Work independently to provide omics support to faculty and staff, perform complex systems biology analysis and synthetic biology design.Education and Experience:Ph.D. Degree required in plant biology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and relevant field.
