[Introduction to supervisor and research group]
Dr. Xiaoliang Yu received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University in 2011 and 2016, respectively, and then joined the National Institute of Materials Science in Japan for post-doctoral research. Since July 2020, he has been a PI and research assistant professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In the past five years, more than 30 papers have been published in journals including Adv. Mater, Adv. Energy Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Nano Energy, Energy Storage Mater. (see homepage https://www.polyu .edu.hk/me/peop … f/yu-xiaoliang-dr/) . The research direction of the research group mainly includes carbon-based materials, new nanomaterial preparation, composite interface construction, and applications in the fields of electrochemical energy storage. The research group relies on the Intelligent Energy Research Institute of Hong Kong Polytechnic University with complete equipment for material preparation, characterization, and electrochemical testing. In addition to PI, there is one postdoctoral fellow (Ph.D. from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) to assist students in the details of the experiment.

(3) Performance requirements. According to the requirements of the Graduate School of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the English score requirement is TOEFL (within two years) not less than 550 (paper-based)/80 (internet-based), or IELTS (within two years) not less than 6.5.
(4) Those who have research experience in the fields of nanomaterial preparation and electrochemical energy storage and related publications are preferred.
