Mentor: Dr. Cheng-Chien Chen, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Email: [email protected]
The Department of Physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Computational X-ray Spectroscopy and Condensed Matter Physics. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Cheng-Chien Chen on simulating dynamical properties of strongly correlated electrons and their non-equilibrium behaviors in ultrafast spectroscopic measurements. Prospective candidates experienced with spectroscopy and materials modeling using advanced quantum many-body algorithms, large-scale parallel computation, and/or novel data science techniques are encouraged to apply.
This position is a full-time one-year appointment with a starting date in Fall 2017, and it is renewable for a second year depending on mutual agreement and funding availability. Applicants should email the application documents – including (i) cover letter, (ii) curriculum vitae with full publication list, and (iii) brief statement of research interests and plans – enclosed as a single pdf file to Prof. Cheng-Chien Chen ([email protected]). Applicants also should arrange three reference letters to be sent directly by the letter writers to the same email address. The review of the applications will start on February 1st.
